New blood for Cogent’s Visions Young Sire Testing Programme

Cogent Breeding has boosted its Visions Young Sire Testing Programme, the leading British progeny testing system, with the appointment of Owain Harries working in a sire procurement role.

The Harper Adams graduate, who joins Cogent’s expert genetics team, will be helping select top-class bulls, bull mothers and embryos for the Visions Young Sire Testing Programme which remains a unique home-based proving system providing UK farmers with accuracy and reliability.

In his new role, Owain will be working with breeders throughout the UK and beyond to ensure the very best genetics are selected to meet the needs of Cogent’s customers.

With a passion for the dairy industry, the welsh-speaking farmer’s son from Llanelli joins Cogent after working as Herd Manager on his family’s award-winning 120-head pedigree Holstein and Shorthorn herd.

His wealth of knowledge, experience, enthusiasm and keen eye for dairy cattle has won many prestigious titles including; Strutt & Parker Young Country Person of the Year 2006, RABDF Young Dairy Stock Judge of the Year 2009, winner of HYB National Stockjudging Reasons 2011 and he is also on the National Judging Panel for Dairy Shorthorns.
