New class at Horse of the Year show 2011

Grandstand Media Ltd is delighted to announce the Maxi Cob of the Year will take place at Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) for the very first time in 2011. The introduction of this new class will feature in an already jam packed timetable of showing classes at HOYS which returns to the NEC, Birmingham from Wednesday 5th – Sunday 9th October 2011.

Maxi Cob classes have been growing in popularity in recent years and the classes are often made up of very successful Cobs who measure out of the light and heavyweight sections that currently take place at HOYS. In association with the British Show Horse Association ten Maxi Cob qualifiers will take place (shows and dates to be announced soon) offering the ten best Maxi Cobs in the country the chance to shine at the world’s most famous horse show. The Maxi Cob of the Year class has been championed by The British Show Horse Association who put forward the suggestion to Grandstand Media Ltd earlier this year.

Sue Phillips, a board member at the British Show Horse Association, commented: "The BSHA is absolutely delighted to have this new championship at HOYS. The Maxi Cob class has developed and grown from strength to strength resulting in what has now become a seriously strong section of the Cob classes. It is fantastic that they will now have this, the ultimate championship to compete for. We are indebted to Grandstand Media Ltd for allowing us this opportunity and know that the final at HOYS will be truly outstanding."

Helena Pettit, Managing Director of HOYS organisers, Grandstand Media Ltd commented: "Over the last couple of years we have watched this class gain popularity with both the competitors and also show audiences and in light of this we are thrilled to add the Maxi Cob of the Year class to an already exciting timetable at Horse of the Year Show 2011."
