New Holland delivers power to the people
New Holland’s T8000 and T9000 ranges are already known for their considerable power – but they are also now becoming renowned as machines that are energy efficient and excellent value for money.
The power packed T8000 and T9000 offer levels of between 248hp and 541hp using common rail multistage fuel injection to deliver this massive power growth. But the T9050 is also fitted with an energy recovery turbo compound device to extract energy from the exhaust gas flow to drive the crankshaft – a system that saves up to 5% of fuel compared to a standard engine.
Bert Hollingworth, who farms 3000 acres of mostly arable land in the village of Letwell in South Yorkshire, is using his T8050 for a third season and his T9050 for a second season. He has been very impressed by their performances:
"Both of these machines are proving to be very good – very reliable. We are mostly arable with some root crops – we’ve a few acres of sugar beet and potatoes. But whatever we’ve used the tractors for they’ve been very cost effective – very good on fuel consumption. I’m really happy with them."
New Holland’s tractor marketing specialist, Richard Hollins, explains that there can be unexpected running costs with some high horsepower vehicles – in particular the cost of maintaining tracks, he says:
"The technology in the T8000 and T9000 has deliberately been kept simple. With today’s tyre technology, the long wheel base of the T8000 or the articulated chassis of the T9000 can ensure that the power to the ground is simply and efficiently transmitted."
New Holland has also included extra features in the T8000s and T9000s – for example, ingenious software usually only found on CVT tractors has been fitted in the T8000s and T9000s to allow the engine speed and gear shifting to be controlled while keeping engine speed at a minimum. The power-efficient, full powershift transmission, used in conjunction with the software offers customers a really effective fuel saving feature.
