New media chief for NFU Cymru

NFU Cymru are welcoming Sarah Jones to their headquarters in Swansea next week when she will be starting as their new Public Relations Officer.

Sarah, formerly the PR and Communications Officer with Age Concern Cymru, is looking forward to starting in her new position. She said, "Coming from Llandovery in Carmarthenshire I have an understanding of the issues facing rural communities and I can't wait to get to grips with the job."

Sarah trained as a journalist at Barnsley College in South Yorkshire before coming back to Wales to study for a degree in Combined Journalism and Communications Studies.

After graduating from the University of Glamorgan in 1997 Sarah worked for Carmarthenshire County Council for five years. Before leaving the Council she managed and delivered the Council's complete programme of media and press relations. She then moved on to work for Age Concern Cymru and was based in Cardiff.

Malcolm Thomas, Director of NFU Cymru said, "We were delighted that someone of Sarah's calibre is joining us here at NFU Cymru. I am confident that the experience and expertise that Sarah will bring to her new role will be invaluable in promoting the voice of agriculture and our rural areas in the years ahead."

Sarah takes up her position on 15 March 2004.
