New StoreCheck monitors keep easy eye on grain

A new range of hand-held electronic grain store monitors, to be launched at LAMMA 2008 later this month (16 - 17 January), will now enable farmers and store mangers track the temperature and condition of grain in store faster and more accurately. The Robydome HTM200 and HTM300 StoreCheckSystem monitors simply plug into a conveniently located single monitoring point, to record temperatures throughout the store from portable lance probes or permanently installed grain bin or silo cables.

Both the HTM200 and HTM300 utilise exclusive new RobyLink data handling technology to ensure on-farm store management can meet buyers' traceability and quality assurance systems.

The sophisticated HTM300 has the capability to monitor readings from multiple sensor sources, displaying information on a large, easy to read LCD display. Fully configurable for installations from large on-farm stores to the biggest commercial operations, the unit will automatically record the sensor readings. Information can be quickly downloaded onto a PC, for full integration into record keeping software and Excel-based spreadsheet systems.

The smaller HTM200 is designed to take readings from up to four linked probes or sensor cables at each monitoring point. Information is displayed on the bright LED screen, for manual recording by the store operator.

Peter Watts of Robydome highlights the entire StoreCheckSystem is designed to enable simple and cost effective fitting into existing on-floor or bin storage systems by competent farm staff, or to be fully integrated into new grain store construction. The system is designed for use with Robydome's robust lance probes or the company's heavy-duty in-bin sensor cables and is suitable for all cereal, oilseed and pulse crops.

"The value of grain in store and the demands of buyers for full traceability and record keeping makes in-store monitoring more important than ever. Temperature at the core of the store or bin is a crucial early indicator of any problem; identifying any shift at an early stage can enable the store manager to take appropriate action to avoid costly deterioration," he added.

"StoreCheckSystem is designed to be quick and easy to use, so that grain store monitoring becomes a simple routine task that will ensure more effective store management and successful long-term storage of grain."

The StoreCheckSystem is the first of a range of off-the-shelf grain store management packages available from Robydome. The company provides full back-up and advice to assist with installation into existing grain stores or new builds, to achieve the most comprehensive and accurate monitoring of grain temperature and condition.

Robydome is one of the UK's leading suppliers of industrial grain store monitoring equipment, equipping large co-op grain stores, maltsters, millers and exporters. The company now supplies an increasing range of on-farm kits, utilising the same high-spec technology and robust build features.
