Early spring control of cleavers and black-grass has been boosted with the approval of a Boxer/Atlantis tank mix.
"The new Boxer/Atlantis tank mix should be a popular choice this spring with growers who struggled to apply black-grass post-emergence herbicides in the autumn," says David Roberts, Dow AgroSciences' technical services leader.
"Florasulam, the active ingredient in Boxer, shows efficacy at temperatures down to 2 ºC, particularly when cleavers growth is slow," says Mr Roberts. "Boxer will eliminate weed competition before the crop is affected. When spring growth commences the crop gets away without restriction."
Boxer applied at 100-150ml/ha will control cleavers, volunteer rape and mayweeds. New approvals allow Boxer to be used in a tank mix or sequence with Atlantis and other ALS-inhibitor herbicides.
Boxer is compatible with chlormequat, chlorothalonil, manganese trace elements and many other spring-applied crop protection products.
