New wide-spread VOLTO tedder

To provide increased output and an even spread of material across a wider operating width, CLAAS has introduced a new addition to its trailed VOLTO tedder range.

The new CLAAS VOLTO 1320T has a working width of 13 metres, giving it the ability in a single pass to comfortably spread five swaths from a 3.0m wide mower. However, whilst it might offer a wide working width in the field, for transport it folds down to a compact 2.98m wide, making it easy to move between fields.

The VOLTO 1320T has a total of 10 rotors, each of which is fitted with seven 10.5mm diameter tines, and incorporates a manual swath guard to ensure a clean headland swath. The VOLTO 1320T is connected to the tractor via the lower links using a mounting frame with pivoting headstock and twin guide wheels with infinite height adjustment for accurate contour following. In addition, each set of rotors is carried on balloon tyres for smooth field travel.

In order that the VOLTO 1320T can be set-up to match crop type and conditions and achieve a clean pick-up and even spread, the spreading angle of the rotors can be switched from 12˚ or 16˚, plus the position of the tines can be changed depending on how light or heavy the crop is.

Drive to each of the rotors is through a driveline that utilises the unique CLAAS PERMALINK system at each joint. This consists of a series of interlocking, wear-free cast steel 'fingers' which have a large surface area for positive power transmission and allow each section to be folded through 180 degrees with full engagement. The drive to each rotor is through a hermetically sealed, maintenance-free transmission, supported by a rugged cast iron housing.

For transport, the VOLTO 1320T is easily folded down to 2.98m using a single double-acting spool valve and the whole unit is carried on a separate wide wheel-track transport chassis which is suitable for use at speeds of up to 40km/h.

The price of the new CLAAS VOLTO 1320T tedder is £21,890.
