New Zealand-Meat and Dairy sales fall 6%.
Meat and dairy sales fell 6 percent amid declining global demand. Excluding those industries, sales fell 5.1 percent from the third quarter, the statistics agency said.
New Zealand’s dollar fell to 52.17 U.S. cents at 11:15 a.m. in Wellington from 52.32 cents immediately before the report.
Sales from the petroleum and industrial chemical industries, which include refined fuels, coal and fertilizer, plunged 30 percent. Manufacturing of basic metals and transport equipment also declined, the agency said.
Sales were unchanged from the third quarter after prices changes are included, the agency said. Prices for butter, cheese, fertilizer and chemicals increased.
