New Zealand-One Billion meat tags.

NEW ZEALAND.

ONE BILLION METAL TAGS.

Adept engineering in Auckland New Zealand, produced their one billionth meat clip last week, which is a vital part of the export lamb trade.

The meat clip is used on the slaughter line to clip the oesophagus, preventing any contents of the stomach contaminating the meat.

Prior to the invention of the clip by Adept, this had to be tied with string, or tied with an elastic band. Many plants used the rubber rings for lamb castration for the purpose.

The fact that Adept process 110 million clips annually, speaks for the success of the NZ invention, such a small piece of metal playing such an important role in the meat industry.
