NFU applauds Ladies in Beef
A new initiative made up of female farmers which will champion British beef is being fully supported by the NFU.
Ladies in Beef was launched by HRH The Princess Royal with the aim of supporting the British beef industry by improving consumer awareness and working with the supply chain to champion Red Tractor assured beef. The group was co-founded and driven by NFU county chairman Minette Batters.
They are also the driving force behind Great British Beef Week which will run from April 23 – 30 to coincide with both St George’s Day, when beef is traditionally eaten, as well as the Royal Wedding.
NFU livestock board chairman Alistair Mackintosh said: "We are delighted to be working closely with Ladies in Beef to help organise Great British Beef Week. Beef farmers in the UK are currently facing serious challenges and this new organisation will no doubt do fantastic work by highlighting the world class quality of the product."
