NFU Conference - Retail Matters
The financial debt which countries throughout the world are currently facing and the deep spending cuts which have already become a feature of domestic policy in many countries imply that the ability of governments to intervene will, in the future, become less. Returns from the market will become increasingly important in sustaining farm incomes.
Ed Bailey, NFU Cymru President said, "In the future the relationship between suppliers and retailers will be key to both our and their success. So how do the major players see the future in the retail sector? This will be the question for the NFU Cymru annual conference which is to be held next month."
A line up of distinguished and diverse speakers will share their vision for the future, and of how suppliers and retailers can work together for their mutual benefit.
Alun Davies AM, the Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Food, Fisheries & European Programmes, will deliver the keynote address at the conference which will be held on Thursday, 3 November 2011 on the Royal Welsh Showground, Builth Wells.
Following on from the Deputy Minister, those present will hear from Jane Bevis, Director of Public Affairs at the British Retail Consortium. In the afternoon session Ed Garner, Communications Director at Kantar Worldpanel, will look at the economy and the impact on consumers and the grocery sector and finally Richard Arnold from the Proper Welsh Milk Company will discuss their retail ethos.
Ed Bailey added, "Our thanks go to our sponsors, Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales, for their support for the conference which looks set to be both topical and very interesting."
