NFU Cymru Supporting Gwent Young Farmers Clubs

NFU Cymru is continuing with its commitment to Gwent YFC with a donation for £200 which, the same as last year will go towards the building project being undertaken to extend their county office facilities.

NFU Cymru has supported Gwent YFC in various ways for many years and the latest contribution will ensure that members are given the best possible facilities at their county office, on the Usk Campus site.

Established in the 1930s Gwent YFC now has seven active clubs across the county. Each club offers rural young people, many linked to the farming industry, the opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills and contribute to the rural community.

On presenting the cheque, Monmouthshire NFU Cymru Council Delegate William Jenkins, who is also Vice-President of Gwent YFC said, "We’ve had a longstanding relationship with Gwent YFC and it is heartening to be able to continue working with them to help support the work they do in the local community - as more often than not we are working towards the same goal."

Accepting the cheque on behalf of Gwent YFC, Gareth Adams, thanked NFU Cymru for its generous donation. He said, "On behalf of our members, I would like to thank NFU Cymru for its generous donation towards the cost of the building project at our county office. We have been lucky enough to gain funding from different grant schemes and also from generous donations from past members and local businesses and we thank them for their support."

"Many families of our young farmers have longstanding links with NFU Cymru and we are delighted to keep working with a farming union which has the knowledge and understanding of the local area our members are from."
