NFU east Midlands appoints new Director
Richard Hezlet has been appointed as NFU East Midlands’ new regional director.
Mr Hezlet, 51, joined the NFU 13 years ago as regional administrator in Liss and has held roles in the South East and West Midland offices. Most recently he was the business development manager at Telford, before being appointed to the new role.
He is delighted to be taking up the challenge and is looking forward to working with a new team.
He said: “The East Midlands region has a reputation for being friendly and effective and I am looking forward to working closely with the staff, group secretaries and members to further the interests of our farmers and growers.”
Having served 20 years in the army Mr Hezlet is a great believer in teamwork. He said: “Whether it be lobbying the government on new legislation or seeking out new markets, co-operation is essential.”
Mr Hezlet says he will take his proactive attitude into the new role and is keen to remind farmers what the NFU can do to help them.
Away from work Mr Hezlet enjoys fly-fishing, ferreting and working his labrador gun dog.
He is married to Liz and has two teenage sons.
The whole family is looking forward to moving to the East Midlands when Mr Hezlet takes up the role in early October.
