NFU farming roadshow winds down

After 94 days on the road, the NFU’s farming roadshow schedule for 2011 has come to a close after months spent teaching youngsters and adults in Britain about agriculture.

Since April 4, the Let’s Talk Farming roadshow has travelled the breadth of the country including visits to popular events like the Devon County Show, Great Yorkshire Show and Royal Welsh to stop-offs at Chiswick Farmers Market and various school visits.

During this time, the roadshow will have visited more than 80 locations, including 57 shows, and travelled through 26 counties. It paid its final visit of 2011 to Pembrokeshire’s Crucial Crew on Friday (November 11).

NFU senior campaigns officer Gemma Fitzpatrick said: "This has been yet another successful year for the roadshow and it is always a big hit with both adults and children alike. It is all about taking farming to the consumer, as well as those who don’t have easy access to the countryside, so they can learn more about what ends up on their plate in a fun and friendly environment."
