NFU harvest survey 2010
Following the driest start to a year in eight decades, NFU Cymru will use this week’s Denbigh and Flint Show to encourage farmers to fill in the Union’s Harvest Survey of cereals and oilseeds.
The survey results consistently provide the most accurate early forecast for UK crop yields and production levels.
Arable farmer and Clwyd NFU Cymru’s Vice-chairman, Ivor Beech, said, "We rely entirely on our member input for this survey. Without the information provided by growers it is simply not possible to generate the accurate estimates that have been achieved in recent years. The outputs of this survey are especially important this year, as grain prices on the world markets have soared since the start of the summer over concerns about the impact of extreme weather on the level of production in Russia and Canada."
