NFU's award winning display moves to gardeners world live

'Growing for another Century' – the award winning display that scooped the NFU its 12th gold medal at Chelsea is coming to Birmingham for the BBC Gardeners' World Live show this weekend.

Now in its 16th year, the show at the NEC from June 11 – 15 attracts thousands of visitors and promises to be a tantalising mix of show gardens, floral displays and practical demonstrations.

The NFU display 'Growing for another Century' has a bold, 21st century, high-tech feel and showcases the full range of seasonally-available British fruit, vegetables, plants and flowers that can be bought in local supermarkets, garden centres, markets or stores across the country.

Designed by Penny Riley and her team, it won many plaudits at this year's RHS Chelsea flower show, where it is estimated that more than three-quarters of the 157,000 visitors visited the NFU stand including celebrities Sir Trevor McDonald, chef Antonio Carluccio and Dustin Hoffman.

Richard Hirst, chairman of the NFU horticulture board, said: "BBC Gardeners' World Live provides another fantastic opportunity to showcase the very best of British produce to the world. Everything on the NFU display is grown in this country and acts as a spectacular reminder to consumers to buy British as well as highlighting why horticulture matters to this nation."
