The findings of a study commissioned by the National Farmers' Union on the impact of a potential EU exit on British farmers is to be published soon.
A leading Dutch agricultural University, LEI Wageningen was asked to provide an independent assessment of the implications on agriculture in the UK if it voted to leave the bloc.
The results of the findings are to be announced during an NFU regional tour set to commence on the 5th of April.
"We are also organising a series of regional meetings between April 5th and 14th to explain the results and to give an opportunity for members to discuss the issues," the NFU said.
"NFU Council on April 18th will discuss the referendum and regional meetings will allow council delegates to take soundings from their members before agreeing the NFU’s position."
NFU President Meurig Raymond said: "The UK’s relationship with the EU is under intense scrutiny ahead of the referendum in June. The Wageningen University study will identify which elements of agricultural and trade policy the NFU will lobby for if the referendum results in the UK leaving the EU.
"LEI Wageningen UR will elaborate three trade scenarios and three support level scenarios. It will estimate the outcomes on the sector’s production and trade, on farm gate price levels and on farm income. The scenario analysis will be conducted by using an econometric model and a farm level model."
