NFU to return to Royal Lancashire Show

FARMING and its community will be back at the heart of this year's Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show as the NFU prepares to increase its presence with two marquees.

For the last two years, the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show has seen improved visitor numbers and improved exhibitor numbers but there has still been a distinct lack of interest in the show from the county's farming community.

So the NFU is leading from the front in an effort to attract the farming community back to the show.

NFU Lancashire County Chairman, Jim Birkett, said: "Lancashire should be proud that it has an agricultural show which has Royal approval and for that reason the NFU will support it to the hilt.

"This year the NFU will be providing a hospitality marquee where members will be able to pop in for a cuppa and cake. The marquee will be an ideal place for NFU members to chat with their local group secretaries and fellow farmers."

As a gesture of good will for the NFU increasing its activities at the show, the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Society is providing the organisation with another marquee free of charge.

Within this marquee, the NFU will showcase the county's diverse farming culture. There will be examples of the unique foods Lancashire farmers produce, fun and educational activities for kids, piglets, calves, ducks and chicks.

The Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show takes place from Friday 21 July until Sunday 23 July at Salesbury Hall in Ribchester.
