After eighteen years with Nickerson, fifteen of which were as managing director, Paul Canham has announced his retirement.
Mr Canham leaves Nickerson with an enviable legacy. During his time with the company, Nickerson has established itself as the number one seed company in the UK, with market leading positions in both wheat and barley, and has delivered consistently strong financial results.
Mr Canham made the decision to retire after Nickerson’s parent company Limagrain’s acquisition of Advanta UK, and the subsequent merger of the two companies. He has overseen the restructuring of the company during this process, with Nickerson and Advanta now operating as one.
Commenting on his imminent retirement Mr Canham said that the plant breeding / seed trade was an engaging business to be in: “I have made many good friends, both in Nickerson and the trade, and it will be very difficult to leave them behind.”
Nickerson’s new managing director will be Peter Snowden, currently managing director of sister company Nickerson-Zwaan. Mr Canham retires on the 30th September and Mr Snowden will take up his position with the company on 2nd October.
