Nigeria: Makes Case for Commercial Farming
The Kwara state governor Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has re-iterated his position on the concept of the state's commercial agriculture, as he explained that the programme was not totally packaged as food production for local consumption.
Bukola who stated this while responding to correspondence at an interactive session to mark the Sallah/ 45th birthday celebration at the weekend in Ilorin stated that: "The commercial agriculture that we are doing does not necessarily bring about food production immediately. What the farmers are doing in this regard is to add values".
The governor said that the project, which include chicken production, processing and diary production are being encouraged to serve as extra value for the farmers, adding that the whole essence is to stimulate agricultural sector.
