Nigeria: Minister Blames Kano People for Industries' Decay

Disturbed by the deplorable condition of the industries in Kano State, the minister of finance, Dr. Shamsudeen Usman has accused Kano State people of being responsible for deteriorating condition of industries in the state.

He also observed that unnecessary criticism as well as lack of respect for each other by politicians in the state, has seriously damaged the image of Kano, saying " the people of the state also have already lost their glory in business".

Shamsudeen was speaking during a reception dinner organised by the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, (KACCIMA) in honour of the minister and that of the state minister of commerce and industry, Alhaji Ahmed Garba Bichi held yesterday at Pink Peacock Hotel, Bompai, Kano.

The minister explained that peace was necessary for the development of society, and that people would never develop until they embrace the spirit of peace in their political and social activities, saying "We need to talk each other", and added "while we are blaming ourselves, others are growing".

He also expressed his dismay over the poor sanitary condition of the city, pollution and out- break of health hazards, such as meseals which killed many children, noting that" meseals and polio have already been forgotten in many countries of the world.

Shamsudeen told the gathering that "it is the hope of the federal government to reactivate the ailing industries in Kano through the provision of adequate energy, but all this effort would not be achieved until peace prevails".
