Nigeria: Youths Urged to Embrace Agriculture
Nigerian youths were advised to embrace agriculture as an alternative to the scarce employment opportunities prevalent in the country, former Kaduna State House of Assembly member, Alhaji Lawal Balarabe, gave the advice in Zaria.
Lawal Balarabe offered the advice at the Faisalco Hall Zaria while baring his mind to journalists on the alarming increase in the country's crime rate in relations to the recent decision taken by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to relegate management and art courses' admission into the country's polytechnics to 30 percent.
"Governments, especially in the North, should invest more in agriculture to attract our youths to the oldest and noble profession. Our youths, graduates especially, should involve more in agricultural practices instead of waiting for white collared jobs which are often very scarce," he said.
Lawal Balarabe, who is also a farmer, said with agriculture and the mass fertile available land in the country at their disposal, Nigerian youths have no course to indulge into crime activities for the clumsy excuse of unemployment.
