NSW mini budget costs agriculture jobs

The NSW Department of Primary Industries will close eight of its research stations and shed 200 jobs, because of cutbacks announced in this week’s state mini-budget.

Affected staff will be offered voluntary redundancy or placement at another DPI centre.

The department’s director general, Dr Richard Sheldrake, says agricultural research in NSW won’t be compromised.
