Oilseed Rape Yield Management Project Progresses
The agronomy and crop protection specialist Agrovista UK Limited is pleased to announce the second visit to its Oilseed Rape Trials site at Darlington in support of the regional strategy for transport Biofuels and North East Biofuels Grower Network Project.
The Grower Network Project is set up to enable local growers view new and existing developments in Oilseed Rape agronomy and crop protection products in order to achieve more consistent oil content and yields from their crops.
The site is based on 10 hectare field. Here, the trials are evaluating different establishment techniques based on seed box / subsoiler and plough / combination drill, along with a number of leading varieties and encompassing conventional, hybrid and semi dwarf oilseed rape varieties. Across the plots applications will be made of a range of existing and new nutrient products and trace elements together with a range of fungicide programmes, all the plots will be taken through to yield and their oil contents will be measured.
The next briefing meeting will take place at The Croft, Croft on Tees, near Darlington on Wednesday 8th April 2009 starting at 8:30am, there will be a number of speakers to discuss the project and advances in crop nutrition and crop projection, refreshments will be provided and the meeting will conclude with a visit to the trial site at Eryholme.
