One farmer killed in fertiliser agitation
The Karnataka government landed in a fresh trouble on Tuesday as a farmer was killed when police opened fire at a large group of farmers who went on rampage demanding sale of adequate fertilisers in the state.
The farmers have been staging agitations across the state for the last two days demanding the government to supply adequate fertilisers and certified seeds to take up sowing on the back of Kharif season during South West monsoon that would be active from this month.
On Monday, the farmers' agitation against fertiliser shortage turned violent with angry farmers going on rampage. Two buses and a deputy commissioner of police vehicle set ablaze while 20 other buses were damaged in Dharward district in northern Karnataka.
