ORF information pack available to vets

Sheep farmers concerned about orf problems in their 2010 lamb crop can now obtain a practical disease information pack from their veterinary practice.

The pack contains a practical guide to orf and its control in UK sheep flocks, a DVD profiling vet and farmer experiences of managing the disease and a best practice vaccination protocol.

"Orf is a widespread disease of sheep and a persistent problem on many UK units," comments Intervet/Schering-Plough large animal veterinary adviser Rosemary Booth MRCVS. "It can cause significant welfare problems and financial losses, but often farmers struggle to manage the disease alone. People working with sheep can also catch orf, so it’s well worth developing a better understanding of the disease. The information pack gives sheep producers the information they need and explains how to vaccinate animals effectively with Scabivax Forte."
