Philippines-Meat inspection clamp down.
PHILIPPINES.
COMPULSORY MEAT INSECTION.
The completion of the new city abattoir in Baclod city in the Philippines last year, at the cost of several million dollars, has now tightened up on the sale of illegal meat.
From January 1 all meat has to be stamped at the abattoir as inspected, before being sold.
The government believe, that with the new facilities they can improve the standard of the nations meat production.
This is very similar to, the 1963 Meat Inspection Act, that was introduced in the United Kingdom in 1964.
Prior to 1964 there was no meat stamped in English abattoirs.
