Pig lorry crash closes road

A lorry, carrying 200 pigs, has crashed on the A1075 at Great Hockham.

The driver was trapped in the cab of the lorry, which crashed at about 1.10pm. Firefighters were called to the scene to release the driver and emergency crews descended on the area to tend to the care of the pigs - many of which were killed or injured in the accident.

Vets were brought in to assist the animals who were on their way to an abattoir, and the RSPCA were called to help.

The smash is still being dealt with The A1075 road was closed and police confirmed it will still be shut until later tonight. They said: "It will not be open by 8pm and we have put road blocks in place."
