Pigs no disease threat to cattle

A survey in the Northern Territory has found that feral pigs are not a disease threat to cattle.

Pastoralists feared the wild pigs may have been carrying and moving diseases like the bacterial infection, leptospirosis.

But the study by the Department of Primary Industries at Katherine has found no obvious disease links between the two species.

Regional vet Sue Fitzpatrick says reseearchers were surprised at just how healthy the pigs were.
