PIG NUMBERS DOWN.

Pig numbers in Poland in November of 2008 were down to 15.4 million pigs, which was a 14% drop from November 2007.

The numbers for October, are now down to only 14 million pigs, as farmers are leaving the industry in droves.

The high cost of feed and the low sales prices, have made pig farming unviable for the last two years in Poland.

Tragically, when the trade is now somewhat improved, many of the small farmers have either gone to the wall or an alternative way of farming.

Ironically in December feed has dropped to its lowest price in 5 years and oil prices have done likewise.
