Politicians criticised over farming U-turn

A parish council has been accused of being "heartless" over its treatment of a farmer in a dispute over land on the outskirts of Sheffield.

Bradfield Parish Council is criticised in posters erected in Loxley, after it locked Phil Jones out of a field he had been using to graze sheep and lambs in Black Lane, Loxley.

The council had allowed him to rent the land but then changed its discovering conditions attached when it bought the field, stating it could only be used for recreational purposes.

It is now planning to sell the five-acre site, with the money to be spent on children's play equipment.

Mr Jones said he did not wish to comment about the case but added he had "nothing to do with" the posters.
