Quick promotion at Anglia Farmers
Procurement specialist Hellen Hetherington, who joined agricultural buying group Anglia Farmers at the beginning of January, has been promoted to a newly created role as business manager covering vehicles, building materials and general supplies.
Moving from her role as business supplier co-ordinator, Hellen now oversees a team of six specialist buyers. Her new role has been created to manage a department which has grown significantly in the last year. It is anticipated that 450 vehicles will be sourced during 2011, building materials will be in excess of £10 million turnover and general supplies - which include specialist areas in waste, stationery, fencing, hedging, white goods and IT sundries - will exceed a turnover of £5.5 million.
Qualified with the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply and with an NVQ in team leading, Hellen gained most of her experience with Crane Fruehauf Trailer Manufacturers in Norfolk. She also worked and trained in Paris with them to become their buyer in the UK and Europe for the parts and service division, buying all commodities and spare parts.
Before joining Anglia Farmers, she was a senior buyer for Lee & Plumpton Ltd, manufacturers of office furniture mainly for the public sector. Prior to this she worked within the construction industry for DGT at Lenwade in Norfolk as a buyer of steel and cladding on large commercial building projects throughout the UK.
"With my diverse knowledge and experience as a buyer I intend to enhance the department at Anglia Farmers and look at ways to improve and develop our buying terms, procurement strategies and supplier relations," said Hellen Hetherington. "Increasingly we are working on a national scale and I am developing nationwide relationships with suppliers to ensure we deliver the best possible prices and service to all our members."
Hellen was educated in Norfolk and is from a Norfolk farming background. She lives in Gressenhall where she is renovating her cottage and enjoys gardening and running.
