Renowned farmer 'killed by his sheepdog' in tractor-crush accident

THE family of a leading Scottish farmer crushed to death by his tractor believe the accident may have been caused by his dog.

Harry Emslie, 67, is understood to have been pinned to a wall by his loader while he was working at Brae of Coynach farm, at Clola, in Aberdeenshire.

His daughter Jacqueline called in paramedics when his body was found but he was pronounced dead aADVERTISEMENTt the scene.

Mr Emslie, one of Britain's most successful farmers, ran one of the biggest cattle operations in the north-east of Scotland and has won numerous awards across Britain for prime cattle.

He was also called in to judge competitions throughout Britain and Ireland.

It is understood relatives think Mr Emslie's dog may have hit the "forward" button in the tractor cab, causing the loader to pin him against a wall.

The farmer's devastated family believe it is the only possible explanation as to why the loader moved while he was working outside the vehicle.

The dog, a working border collie, is believed to have been sitting in the machine's tractor cab at the time of the accident on Monday morning.
