Russia-False report on Brazilian beef.

RUSSIA.

17 TONS OF MEAT SEIZED.

Contrary to the report in new services Meat Russia, that gave the impression that the 17 tons of meat sized in Krasnoyarsk, was being delivered from Brazil, this was not the case according to Brazilian authorities.

The meat was being delivered internally in Russia by a local meat wholesaler who had 15 tons of imported beef and 2 tons of imported horse meat on his truck. The meat had not been stored correctly as is often the case in Russia causing it to deteriorate.

Government veterinarian officers who stooped the truck, found that the driver had no documents or certificates of origin from the cold store, where he collected the meat. The meat was allegedly in a state of thawing out owing to lack of management skills at the cold store, according to the Russian authorities.

The driver of the truck was taken in to police custody.

Brazilian Department of Agriculture authorities, said that the article and headline were very misleading, as the meat arrived in Russia in September in perfect condition, in order to be received by the Russian port authorities.
