Russia-Irish pork seized.

IRISH PORK SEIZED.

There was a consignment of 8 tons of illegal meat sized on Saratov on Tuesday. The meat was of Irish origin and there has been a ban on Irish pork in Russia since 8 December 2008.

The meat had been traded between local wholesalers and was seized by the Ministry of Agriculture Inspectors

Russia have no facilities for testing meat for dioxins, outside of the laboratory, however the fact that the meat was from Ireland, was sufficient grounds to impound it.
