Russia-Meat ban extended on Canada and USA.
RUSSIA-Russia to Ban Meat Imports from the USA, Canada and SpainFederal Agency for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor) has banned imports of not heat treated meat and meat products from South Carolina (the USA), some Canadian provinces and the whole territory of Spain.
As it is said in Rosselkhoznadzor’s message, the ban is linked with measures for prevention of flu virus А (H1N1) entry and spread in the Russian Federation.
The imposed ban covers meat products from any livestock manufactured from May 1, 2009, which processing temperature was below 80 degrees Centigrade, and the processing time took less than 30 minutes. It was the first risk zone.
The Russian agency has also specified the second risk zone, on which the restrictions on imports of live hogs, pork and not heat treated pork products have been imposed from May 2, 2009. The second zone covers Canadian provinces, British Columbia, Nova Scotia and Ontario.
