Russia-More farm subsidies.

RUSSIA.

SUBSIDIES FOR FARMERS.

The government of Russia recently announced the subsidy that they are offering to grain farmers who produce grain for export.

The government have now gone a step further and are going to pay a subsidy to sheep, goat and reindeer farmers to produce more meat.

This will also include assistance to horse farmers who currently run 9,000 horses or more for meat as well as farmers with 25,000 head of reindeer in the Artic north of the country.

The horse and reindeer industry has been in decline, since imports of cheap kangaroo meat started arriving from Australia.

Argentina and Australia both have 3 approved horse export abattoirs that send the lions share of their horse meat to the Russian market.
