SAFF backs cattle methane reduction research
The chairman of the South Australian Farmers Federation (SAFF) livestock section, Dale Perkins, has welcomed new research into the diet of cattle aimed at reducing their methane emissions.
A Victorian scientist, Chris Grainger, says there is potential to significantly reduce the emissions by feeding the livestock by-products from other industries, such as whole cotton seeds.
Mr Perkins says he thinks local farmers will embrace the research taking place in Victoria.
