Sask Beef Producers Considering Umbrella Group

The Saskatchewan Stockgrowers Association and the Saskatchewan Cattle Feeders Association will discuss the issue at meetings later this month.

The two organizations have been examining the idea for about a year. A Calgary consulting company issued a report in May. It recommended an umbrella group, with elected cattle producers from each of the nine crop districts.

Stockgrowers President Dennis Fugelrud hopes to have a clear direction from membership by the end of January. The Stockgrowers meet this Friday in Regina, while the Cattle Feeders get together late next week in Saskatoon.
