Sausage making skills on show in Somerset
Visitors to the Bath & West Show have been trying their hand at sausage making during a competition organised by the Somerset Federation of Young Farmers Clubs.
The event was held on Saturday (4 June) to support Cornish Mutual’s ’Come Together, Eat Together’ campaign – the rural insurance firm is a key sponsor of the Somerset Young Farmers.
Lloyd Tucker, winner of the BBC’s ’Young Butcher of the Year’ and member of the Polden Hills YFC was on-hand to launch the competition and to demonstrate how to make sausages.
Young farmers from across Somerset as well as the general public were then invited to have a go themselves in a ’Generation Game-style’ challenge.
Cornish Mutual’s local insurance Inspector Nick Howe judged the event and chose Sophie Cave and Shannagh Wales-Tomlinson from Rodway YFC (pictured) as the overall winners.

It also gives our members the opportunity to learn new skills in how to make great tasting products that can increase the value of what is produced on their farms."
Cornish Mutual’s ’Come Together, Eat Together’ charity cookbook, which includes recipes from well-known chefs and people from across the South West, was also on sale at the Bath & West Show.
