Seeking the best young financial consultant in agriculture

A new competition is being launched today by Lloyds TSB Agriculture and The British Institute of Agricultural Consultants (BIAC) to find the "Young Consultant of the Year". The aim is to discover a financial professional, under the age of 35, who has achieved considerable success for an agricultural business following the implementations of his / her recommendations.

The need for good consultants to support farmers and other land based business owners has never been greater. Anthony Hyde, Chief Executive of BIAC, said: "The seemingly endless run of demands facing the agriculture sector, such as highly volatile commodity markets, the need to reduce carbon emissions, global diseases and environmental demands, has had a dramatic impact on agriculture in this country. It is therefore more critical than ever that those affected can turn to professionals for sound financial advice. We know that excellent work is being carried out by many of the young consultants working across the country, and this is a great opportunity for us to recognise and encourage them," he said.

Jon Rose, Senior Agricultural Manager at Lloyds TSB Agriculture, added:

"The industry will continue to face a lot of changes over the coming years. Lloyds TSB has taken a lead in helping customers to face the many challenges, including support throughout Foot & Mouth Disease and organising national events to help farmers understand the impact of the change from IACS to the Single Farm Payment. As a Bank we are committed to providing our customers with the very best professional support, enabling them to not only survive but truly prosper and so to ensure the success of their businesses for future generations. This is often achieved by good advice at an early stage and we are delighted to support the development and recognition of the best young consultants today."

Potential applicants need to submit information that demonstrates their success in work carried out for clients since 1st January 2007. A wide range of projects will be considered and candidates can submit between one and three cases. For more details please go to the BIAC website at:
