SHB 4x4 Hire invests in telematics

SHB Group owns Europe’s largest 4x4 rental fleet and faces the challenge of meeting their Duty of Care obligations, while balancing the management of deliveries and monitoring vehicle usage. To address these issues, SHB has selected TRACKER, the leader in vehicle tracking solutions, to provide and install its telematics units across the fleet, helping to streamline process and enhance fleet efficiency.

SHB Group specialise in 4x4 vehicle hire and own Europe’s largest 4x4 rental fleet with a range that now includes a wide variety of commercial heavy duty vehicles that can be customised to suit the needs of their customers. As well as flexible hire packages of variable lengths, SHB offers aftercare services through a network of mobile engineers who provide onsite repairs. TRACKER Reporter has been installed on 125 vehicles to assist in vehicle delivery and monitoring of payroll sheets.

David Greenwood, Systems Manager of SHB comments, ’TRACKER’s telematics system allows us to monitor our vehicles and the actual time driven, which reduces errors on time sheets and invoices. It has also become an affordable and essential part of our duty of care, helping us manage our mobile engineers, who work alone. TRACKER’s reports assist us in reducing our carbon footprint and increasing the safety and efficiency of our fleet.’

Stephen Doran, Managing Director of TRACKER adds, ’Driver safety and keeping track of vehicle management and maintenance is a prime concern for many businesses. SHB operates a large fleet and telematics is already helping the company stay in control of the wellbeing of their staff, while boosting efficiency and the level of customer care. We will be working closely with SHB to ensure TRACKER Reporter continues to offer the control it needs to maximise the business benefits of our telematics solution.’
