Shoppers urged to buy goods grown here
The state Agriculture Department is using a program to encourage residents to buy Michigan products.
"People want to help their fellow Michiganders," said Agriculture Department Director Don Koivisto, whose department is responsible for the Select Michigan program.
And grocers can make a "concerted effort" to make Michigan's products available to customers.
Koivisto said a family can have an impact on the state's economy by spending $10 a week on Michigan foods.
"It's spreading and it's something that's very easy for people to do," he said.
