Society appeals for vintage farming machinery and equipment

Vintage farming machinery is being sought by the Cheshire County Show for a trip down memory lane to celebrate its 175th anniversary.

One of the ways the show is marking the occasion is by organising a display of vintage farming machinery and equipment at this year’s event.

“This is such a momentous milestone to reach that we really want to celebrate the history behind Cheshire Agricultural Society and the Cheshire County Show,” said Nigel Evans, Executive Director of the Cheshire County Show.

“We are hoping to be able to display machinery and tools from as far back as we possibly can and would be grateful for any farmers or collectors who have anything they could loan to our display.

“In particular we would really like to be able to exhibit a wooden plough.”

This year’s Cheshire County Show takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 18 and 19, at the Tabley Showground.

In recent years the show has attracted more than 80,000 visitors – making it one of the largest in the country.

This year’s show will include the usual attractions of thousands of livestock animals, the Sainsbury’s Agri-Centre, Roberts Bakery Food Hall and Food Live Theatre and a Countryside Experience area.

There will also be a display from leading stunt motorcyclist Matt Coulter AKA ‘The Kangaroo Kid’ and live music from the Scots Guard Association Pipe and Drum Band Back.
