Soil Association praises greenhouse gas recommendations

The Soil Association has praised the latest report from the Climate Change Committee, which is recommending that powerful greenhouse gases nitrous oxide and methane in the climate gases that should be cut by 80 per cent by 2050. It said that it was delighted that the committee, led by Lord Turner, has agreed with its recommendations.

Soil Association policy director Peter Melchett said: "This report is a long overdue but welcome recognition of the crucial role that radical changes to farming must play in the battle against global warming.
