Spectacular indoor display of Horsepower at the East of England Showground
Come and see the magnificent spectacle of over 200 Shire Horses on display in the fabulous new indoor grand arena at the Shire Horse Society Spring Show – the largest Shire Horse show in the world - on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th March 2008. The arena will be in exec, the brand new exhibition centre at the East of England Showground in Peterborough.
The two-day spectacular, organised by the Shire Horse Society, a registered charity, helps to raise much needed funds to support this threatened breed and secure its future, especially among the younger generation.
Visitors to the Show, which attracts spectators from across the country, as well as overseas, will be able to see hundreds of Shire Horses expertly presented and dressed in their traditional glory. There will be a range of demonstrations and classes featuring in-hand, harness, turnout, ridden, with implements and cross-country driving.
Plenty of main ring entertainment is scheduled over the two days, culminating in a grand parade in the afternoon each day. You can also take the opportunity to visit the horses in their stables enjoying a well-earned rest!
There is fun for all the family, including vintage tractors and farm machinery, a dog agility show and a Victorian funfair. You can also see farriers at work, as the Show hosts the largest farriery competition of heavy horses in England, with over 50 competitors. And if that's not enough, there is also the chance to do a bit of retail therapy with over 200 trade stands, an indoor shopping area and food hall.
Andrew Mercer, Chief Executive said, "It is vital that as a nation we continue to support this breed before it becomes too late and the Shire Horse Spring Show is a fantastic way of doing exactly that, offering a superb display of heritage for the whole family to enjoy."
