SRI-LANKA MEAT EXPORTS.
The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) has given investment permission to Weells Meat Processing (Private) Limited for a Processing Plant in Pamunugama.
The Chairman/Director General, Dhammika Perera has signed the agreement on behalf of the BOI and formally presented the BOI Certificate of Registration to the investor, according to reports.
Processing
Further reports stated thatt he agreement with Weells Meat Processing (Private) Limited is for a project to process fish, meat and fruits for the export market. The project represents an investment of US$ 1,000,000.
With this project there it is estimated that 50 new job prospects will be created.
Mr. Dhammika Muthukuda announced that the state-of-the-art processing plant will be situated at Nugape, Pamunugama in the Gampaha District.
Product range
"The product range will include meat, fish and fruits all targeting the export market. Our meat products include meatballs, sausages, nuggets, ham, bacon and slices among many others. Fish products include frozen fish, fishballs, fish sausages, tuna and whole fish. In addition, we also have fruit products in the form of canned fruits, fruit juices, jam, special cordials and chutneys," stated Muthukuda.
The plant will be built using German technology and will comply with high Quality Standards – such as BRC Certification and ISO 22000.
