Strong trade for pedigree Holstein in-calf heifers at Shrewsbury

A special entry of 19 Ensdon and Claybury pedigree Holstein in-calf heifers attracted buyers from a wide area to Shrewsbury Auction Centre.

The heifers, sold by auctioneers Halls on behalf of sold C E B Draper Ltd, peaked at £1,780 for Ensdon Harry Heather 3 by Walhowdon Marshall Harry. She was one of three heifers in the sale from the noted Heather family, which relates back to the Grantchester Heather cow that was sold for 68,000 guineas.

Heifers by Hidden-View Best peaked at £1,750, Claybury Radar by Blitz to £1,700 and Ensdon Maximilian by Shottle also to £1,700.
