Livestock supplies to the Pugu livestock terminal market in Dar es Salaam declined to an average of 588 head of cattle a day last week from 610 the previous week.
But the average beef price ranged from Sh3,800 and Sh4,000 a kilo in the last two weeks.
A weekly livestock market information report by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Marketing showed 1,053 animals were on the average supplied daily last week fewer than 1,065 the previous week.
The price of a grade two cow decreased to Sh337,000 last week from Sh378,000 the preceding week while that of a grade three animal declined to Sh187,500 from Sh199,000 earlier.
A mature grade two bull was sold at an average of Sh507,000 daily last week from Sh524,000 a week earlier while a grade three animal was sold at Sh379,000 compared with Sh408,000 a week earlier.
The supply of goats averaged 370 animals a day last week from 385 the preceding week.
A grade two she-goat was traded at an average of Sh45,800 last week, from Sh57,000 the previous week while a grade three animal fetched Sh27,500 less than Sh41,000 before.
The price of a grade two he-goat was Sh53,700 last week compared with Sh61,000 the previous week while that of a grade three decreased to Sh29,800 from Sh41,000. Sheep supplies decreased to an average of 95 animals a day last week from 70 before.
A grade two ewe was sold at an average of Sh43,300 last week compared with Sh40,000 a week earlier while that of a grade three goat fell to Sh27,600 from Sh34,500.
A grade two ram was sold at an average of Sh48,550 last week from Sh46,700 the preceding week. The price of a grade three ram was Sh29,500 less than Sh34,900 during the same period.
