Tractor rally raises £17,000

RICHARD Ali, Chief Executive of the English Beef and Lamb Executive (EBLEX), was on hand to celebrate the end of a marathon drive to raise funds for charity. The tractor, manned by volunteers from RABI (the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution), arrived at the Royal Cornwall Show after travelling a total of 555 miles across the South and South West towing a trailer.

A major sponsor of the drive, EBLEX also backed the RABI show barbecue to give a further boost to the £17,000 already raised by the tractor drive. He said: "EBLEX has been very pleased to sponsor what has been a highly successful and high-profile event. RABI has an extremely important part to play in helping our farming community." And RABI Chief Executive Patrick Shervington, who was also at the Show to welcome the tractor, added: "The support we have had from EBLEX has been marvellous and I am very grateful to them - the result has been tremendous."
